Pres seeks approval to appoint new High Commissioner to Sri Lanka

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih is seeking the Parliament's approval to appoint Ali Faiz as the Maldivian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka.

The President has referred the matter to the Foreign Relations Committee of the Parliament for consideration and decision.

The President's letter to the Parliament said he wished to appoint Ali Faiz as the Maldivian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka. After the letter was heard at Monday's Parliament sitting, it was referred to the Foreign Relations Committee for consideration.

Ali Faiz is currently the Chairman of the Police Board formed under the Police Service Act. He was appointed to the post in April last year. He held senior positions in the government and some state-owned companies during former President Mohamed Nasheed's administration.
