HDC announces major tourism project for HM Phase II

The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has introduced a major tourism project in Hulhumale' Phase II.

The project "Urban Isle" was launched through HDC's social media channels on Wednesday. The project is designed to involve large businesses as well as small and medium-sized businesses. HDC has now opened an opportunity for interested parties to invest in the project under a 'One Island One Resort' concept.

HDC said the Urban Isle project would be developed to accommodate both local and foreign holidayers. The project will also cater to budget travelers. HDC assures that the project will provide pleasurable services to people from all walks of life.

Upscale hotels, as well as midscale hotels and city hotels, will be built under the Urban Isle project. Serviced apartments and recreational facilities will also be established under the project. An illustration of how the facilities will be built was released by HDC on Wednesday.

Former President Abdulla Yameen's government dredged the land area of Hulhumale' Phase II and announced a major tourism project for the area. However, it is unknown whether the project announced by the HDC today is the same one announced then.
