The body of 28-year-old Nishama Mohamed, who was found dead in HDh. Nolhivaram earlier this month, has been sent to India for post-mortem.
Nishama was found dead at her residence on December 10. Her husband, Faisal Aboobakuru, was accused of her murder and was arrested in Kulhudhuffushi City later the same day. However, he attempted suicide while in police custody and passed away on December 19 after being treated on ventilator support.
According to sources, there were no visible external injuries on Nishama's body, except for some signs of injury to her neck. The police decided to conduct a post-mortem on her body to determine the cause of death, and the body has now been sent to India to carry out the autopsy.
Nishama's family learned of her death when they went to her room in search of her when the family failed to contact either Nishama or Faisal by phone after Faisal posted photos of Nishama without her hijab on his Facebook page. The family opened the room by breaking the door. Faisal was in Kulhudhuffushi City when the news of Nishama's death became public. Police arrested Faisal after he handed himself over to the police.
