Gais resigns from Broadcom membership

The Vice-President of the Maldives Broadcasting Commission (Broadcom), Ahmed Gais, has resigned from the commission.

The Parliament approved the appointment of Ahmed Gais as a Broadcom member on December 3, 2019. He was appointed as the Vice-President of the Commission at a commission meeting held on December 5, 2019.

Gais told some newspapers that he resigned as a commission member to give time to other work. He has been involved in activities of the main-ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).

The Broadcom is a seven-member commission chaired by Mariyam Waheeda. The commission's current members are Amjad Waheed, Ali Yusuf, Aminath Ameena, Mohamed Fazeen, and Shifla Ibrahim.
