Over 138,000 tourist arrivals in first 25 days

More than 138,000 tourists arrived in the Maldives in the first 25 days of this year.

According to Tourism Ministry, 138,593 tourists visited the Maldives as of January 25. This is a 29.7 percent increase over the same period last year. 106,826 tourists visited the country during the same period last year.

Most tourists now visit the Maldives from Russia. In this regard, 19,389 tourists visited the country by January 25, which is 14 percent of the total arrivals. India was the second most popular source market, with Italy following behind.

The Maldives also received a significant number of tourists from the UK and then Germany. The United States, France, China, Kazakhstan, and South Korea are among the top ten source markets.

According to the Tourism Ministry, 22 countries currently operate direct flights to the Maldives, and more than 30 airlines operate flights to the tourism-dependent archipelago.

A total of 1,215 tourism destinations are currently operating in the Maldives. These include 168 resorts, 877 guesthouses, 157 safaris, and 13 hotels. These facilities operate 59,768 beds for tourism purposes.
