Tourist arrivals at 178,000 at end of January

The number of tourists visiting the Maldives has increased to 178,159 as of February 1.

According to the Tourism Ministry, the number of tourists visiting the country increased by 30.9 percent compared to the same period last year. 136,146 tourists visited the country during the same period last year, while 94,261 tourists visited during the same period in 2021.

Statistics show that 172,536 tourists visited the Maldives in January this year. The numbers show that 5,623 tourists arrived in the Maldives on February 1.

Russia is currently the largest source market for Maldives tourism. While 24,154 tourists visited the Maldives from Russia, India follows behind with 19,390 tourists. The UK comes third with 17,159 tourists.

According to the Tourism Ministry, an average of 5,566 tourists visited the Maldives daily in January.

There are currently 1,218 tourist facilities in the Maldives. These include 168 resorts, 880 guesthouses, 157 safari vessels, and 13 hotels. These facilities have 59,840 tourist beds between them.
