Practical work of Thinadhoo tertiary hospital to begin soon

The practical work of the tertiary hospital to be built in GDh. Thinadhoo will start as soon as the ongoing design works of the hospital are completed, Health Minister Ahmed Naseem has said.

Replying to a question from Thinadhoo North MP Abdul Mughnee regarding the new tertiary hospital, Minister Ahmed Naseem said the design work is currently underway.

"As soon as the design work is completed, the practical work will begin," Naseem said.

The Health Ministry has decided to convert the existing Dr. Abdul Samad Memorial Hospital into a tertiary hospital. The ministry Ministry had previously said that the hospital would be built on a separate land under a new concept. The hospital will be built up to international standards and will be environment friendly, the ministry had said. The decision to build the hospital on a separate land was made as the existing building of Abdul Samad Memorial Hospital cannot be expanded.

The Abdul Samad Tertiary Hospital will have at least 100 beds.
