Former Dhangethi and Gemanafushi MP, Ilham Ahmed, has been appointed Jumhooree Party (JP) leader, Gasim Ibrahim's special envoy.
Ilham was previously Gasim's advisor. He was appointed as Gasim's Special Envoy at a JP Council meeting held Monday.
Ilham has previously served as the deputy leader of the now-dissolved Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP), Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), and JP. He also served as the President of the Football Association of Maldives.
Ilham has been appointed as Gasim's special envoy while he participated in JP talks with MDP President Mohamed Nasheed as Gasim's representative.
At the council meeting, the party appointed three advisors to Gasim. They are Immigration Controller Mohamed Ahmed Hussain (Hanafi), Environment Ministry's State Minister Hassan Mughnee, and author Yashfa Abdul Ghani.
In addition, some of Gasim's current advisors were appointed as special advisors. Former Home Minister Azleen Ahmed, former Police Commissioner Abdulla Nawaz, and two former MPs, Ahmed Nihan and Riyaz Rasheed were appointed special advisors.
