The Parliament has condemned the attack on Mathiveri MP Hassan Zareer two days after the attack.
Police said the attack on Zareer with what could be considered a dangerous weapon was reported to the authority at 5:08 am on May 8. He was attacked while he was at a Male' City cafe'. MP Zareer is still receiving treatment for his injuries at ADK Hospital. Although the case is being investigated, no arrests have been made thus far.
The Parliament Secretariate issued a statement on Wednesday evening saying it strongly condemns the attack on Zareer and calls for a full investigation into the incident.
The main-ruling MDP has also condemned the attack. The party called for the assailants to be brought to justice.
