Police have apprehended two individuals in connection to the recent assault on Mathiveri MP Hassan Zareer.
The attack, which took place in the wee hours of May 1st at a Male' City cafe', involved the use of a dangerous weapon and was promptly reported to authorities at 5:08 am.
The suspects, aged 21 and 22 years, were taken into custody under a court order on May 11th, as confirmed by the police. The identities of the suspects have not been revealed at this time. The Criminal Court subsequently ordered the individuals to be remanded in custody for a period of 15 days.
Following the incident, MP Zareer received medical attention at ADK Hospital and has since been released. The motive behind the attack remains unknown, and the investigation is ongoing.
