Remand extended for two suspects arrested for attack on MP Zareer

The remand of two men arrested in connection with an assault on Mathiveri MP Hassan Zareer has been extended.

The attack occurred in the early hours of May 1st at a café in Male' City, involving the use of a dangerous weapon. The incident was promptly reported to the authorities at 5:08 am. Following the assault, two suspects, aged 21 and 22, were arrested on May 11, and a third suspect was arrested on May 23.

The two suspects arrested on May 11 were produced before the Criminal Court on Saturday to decide on their remand, as their initial 15-day nearing its end. At the hearing, the court extended their remand by an additional 15 days.

Meanwhile, the third suspect, Ibrahim 'Gabbarey' Abdulla, has been in custody since the day of his arrest. His remand period is 30 days.
