Statistics have shown that 64.6 percent of the tourist arrivals in the Maldives thus far this year came from the top 10 source markets.
According to the Tourism Ministry, out of a total of 861,167 tourists that visited the Maldives as of June 14, 555,730 tourists hailed from the top 10 countries in terms of market contribution.

Russia - 100,593 tourists - 11.7 percent
UK - 76,148 tourists - 8.8 percent
Germany - 63,021 tourists - 7.3 percent

United States - 35,301 tourists - 4.1 percent
France - 29,748 tourists - 3.5 percent
Switzerland - 19,468 tourists - 2.3 percent
South Korea - 16,179 tourists - 1.9 percent
According to the Tourism Ministry, the number of tourists visiting the Maldives so far this year increased by 14.2 percent over the same period last year, during which 754,301 tourists visited the country. However, the number of tourists declined in May and June this year, primarily due to a decrease in Russian tourist arrivals.
