Over forty new guest houses opened thus far this year

Over forty new guesthouses have been established in the Maldives thus far this year.

According to the Tourism Ministry, there were 865 guesthouses in the Maldives at the end of last year. With newly opened 41 guesthouses, the number of guesthouses operating as of the 21st of this month has risen to 906.

The growth in guesthouses has also led to an increase in the number of available beds. By the end of last year, there were 13,992 beds in guesthouses. However, with the introduction of these new establishments, the bed capacity has risen to 14,880.

At the end of last year, the Maldives had 168 operational resorts and 158 safaris. Statistics show there are currently 170 resorts and 160 safaris operating in the Maldives, bringing the total number of tourist beds to 60,909. At the end of last year, the number stood at 59,625.
