Tourist arrivals increase by 14 percent

The number of tourists visiting the Maldives so far this year has increased by 14.2 percent over the same period last year.

According to the Tourism Ministry, 920,156 tourists arrived in the Maldives as of June 28 this year. This figure represents an increase of 14.2 percent over the 805,998 tourists that visited during the same period last year.

Tourist numbers slowed at the beginning of June but showed signs of improvement by the end of the month. From June 1 to 28, a total of 110,912 tourists visited the Maldives, marking an increase of seven percent over the 103,664 tourists that arrived in the same period last year.
