MP Moosa Siraj endorses Dr. Muizzu for presidency

Fonadhoo MP Moosa Siraj, who officially departed from the main-ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) on Monday, has announced his endorsement of Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, the PPM-PNC presidential candidate, for the upcoming presidential election.

Taking to Twitter on the same day, Moosa Siraj shared a photograph alongside Dr. Muizzu, asserting that despite the MDP candidate securing a majority of votes from Laamu Atoll in the 2018 presidential election, the dynamics will shift in the upcoming contest.

In a letter addressed to MDP Chairman Fayyaz Ismail, Moosa Siraj stated his departure from the party, citing his decision to no longer maintain his membership.

Although he had supported President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih during the eleventh hour of the MDP presidential primary in January, Siraj's recent inactivity within the government and his criticism of land allocation decisions in Male' City have marked his divergence.
