Nasheed: Voting for Pres Solih would be a grave mistake

Parliament Speaker Mohamed Nasheed has said he does not see much support from the public for the incumbent President and main-ruling MDP's presidential candidate, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

Speaking at a campaign event held by The Democrats in Male' City on Saturday night, Nasheed strongly cautioned against voting for President Solih in the upcoming presidential election, describing such a move as a grave mistake.

“It would be a big mistake for anyone to vote for President Solih again. Do not vote for President Solih at any cost,” Nasheed said, asserting that President Solih did not wish to fulfill the promises outlined in the 2018 MDP presidential manifesto.

Nasheed also criticized the government's Binveriyaa initiative, designed to allocate land in the Greater Male' Area to the citizens of Male' City. He said the government has no plan to provide housing and land to the city's people and said the decision to provide 2,200 plots at a cost of MVR 4.2 billion does not make any sense.
