The PPM-PNC Presidential candidate, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, has announced a commitment to establish a national mental hospital in Laamu Gan.
Speaking at a campaign rally in Gan on Sunday, Muizzu emphasized the importance of a scenic environment for a mental health facility and pointed out that Gan possesses the potential for such a facility. Acknowledging the prevalence of mental health issues in the Maldives, Muizzu stated that establishing this hospital would eliminate the need for Maldivians to travel to neighboring countries for mental health treatment.
Muizzu further said a tertiary hospital will be established in Gan from where therapy services would be available.
“The hospital will offer behavioral therapy and occupational therapy,” he said.
In addition to healthcare initiatives, the presidential hopeful pledged that a PPM-PNC government would implement housing projects in Gan and Fonadhoo islands. He also promised to pave all roads in Gan and to establish sports facilities for the local community.
