The UN Resident Coordinator for the Maldives, Catherine Haswell, has assured the UN's support in implementing national development plans outlined in President-Elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's manifesto.
Ms. Hazewell met with the President-Elect on Tuesday and pledged the UN's full support in achieving the development visions outlined in his manifesto. She said while the UN is always committed to assisting the Maldives in various areas for the country's development, assistance would be provided in particular to fulfill the pledges for the first 100 days of administration and implementing national development plans. She also commended the pledges made in Muizzu's manifesto on empowering women.
During the meeting, the President-Elect thanked the UN for its technical assistance in achieving development goals, strengthening institutions, and promoting democracy. He requested UN assistance in achieving the country’s national development goals in various areas in the coming term.
The UN has consistently provided financial and technical assistance to develop Maldives in various areas.
