A total of 31 airlines from 22 countries currently operate flights to the Maldives.
According to the latest statistics from the Tourism Ministry, eight of the top 10 countries in Maldives' tourism market presently have direct flights to the Maldives. The United States and Spain are the only two countries on the top ten list that do not fly directly to the Maldives.
More airlines are scheduled to start flights to the popular tourist destination during the winter season. Beyond, a joint venture between a local company, Simdi, and a UAE company is set to launch flights in November, while British billionaire Richard Branson's Virgin Atlantic has already commenced its flights to the Maldives earlier this month.
