PPM-PNC to hold primary in January to determine candidates for parliamentary elections

The PPM-PNC Progressive Congress Coalition has decided to hold a primary to determine its candidates for the upcoming parliamentary elections. The primary has been scheduled for January 20 next year.

In a statement released Wednesday night, the PPM-PNC coalition said the application process will be open for those interested in contesting the primary from December 20 until December 31. The two affiliated parties will field candidates together as a single coalition, the statement read.

The Election Commission (EC) is scheduled to announce the date of the parliamentary elections on November 5. The EC expects the elections to be held in late March or early April next year.

During this election, 93 members will be chosen to comprise the next Parliament, marking an increase from the current 87-member structure.
