State media, Public Service Media's (PSM) newsroom head, Mohamed Afsal, has been relieved of his position. The decision was communicated through a memo from the new Managing Director, Zeena Zahir, specifying that Afsal would henceforth undertake work as directed by the MD.
Gadhdhoo-born journalist Hussain Ameen, who joined PSM as a senior journalist in 2019, has been appointed as the new Head of the Newsroom. Senior editors Ahmed Jadhuan and Mohamed Jinah will be working alongside Ameen.
Ameen and Jadhuan were former employees of DhiTV while Jinah worked at DhiFM. Jinah and Jadhuan joined PSM as editors in 2016 and were deputy heads under Afsal since 2018.
