Fonadhoo MP Siraj named PNC's PG leader

Fonadhoo MP Moosa Siraj has been named the Parliamentary Group Leader of the ruling Peoples' National Congress (PNC). The announcement was made during Monday's Parliament session by Speaker Mohamed Aslam, who informed that PNC formally communicated Siraj's appointment to the Parliament on November 29.

Moosa Siraj left the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) on August 21, ahead of the presidential election. He rallied behind President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu in the presidential election. Last Wednesday, the Parliament announced his membership with PNC.

The current distribution of parliamentary members across various political parties is as follows:

MDP: 56 members
The Democrats: 13 members
PPM: 2 members
PNC: 2 members
JP: 2 members
MDA: 2 members
Independent: 3 members

The PNC’s Parliamentary Group leader was previously Felidhoo MP Mohamed Fazul Rasheed. Fazul resigned from the parliament after being appointed as the Managing Director of Urbanco.
