New administration reconstitutes National Tender board

The National Tender Board, responsible for assessing tenders and awarding contracts for government projects, has been reconstituted under the leadership of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

The newly formed Tender Board appoints the Finance Ministry's Deputy Minister Ahmed Saaid as its Chairman, with Abdulla Imran serving as the Vice Chair. The board comprises five additional members: Munthaz Abdul Raheem, Adam Badrullah, Mohamed Shanoon Fuad, Fathmath Mohamed Didi, and Al Usthaz Aminath Zeeniya.

The tender board evaluates projects worth more than MVR 5 million.

The state budget for the upcoming year, recently approved by the Parliament's Budget Committee, allocates MVR 8.9 billion for 317 different development projects under the Public Sector Investment Program (PSIP). However, Finance Minister Dr. Mohamed Shafeeq informed the Budget Committee that a re-examination of some projects might be necessary due to the state's financial situation, possibly leading to the postponement of some projects.
