Gov't dispels rumors of land relocation from HM Phase II to Fushidhiggaru Falhu

The government has dismissed allegations suggesting that it intends to relocate the land allocated for individuals under the previous government's housing initiatives from Hulhumale' Phase III to Fushidhiggaru Falhu.

Several local newspapers Wednesday reported that the new government is reluctant to issue land for residential purposes from Hulhumale' Phase III. For this reason, land allocated from the location during the former administration would be reallocated from Fushidhiggaru Falhu, the reports said.

However, Fazul Rasheed, the Managing Director of Urbanco, the corporation in charge of Hulhumale', denied the allegations and assured that the government had no plans to change the plot locations.

President Dr. Muizzu's administration has set a target to address housing issues in the Greater Male' Area through a large-scale housing project in Fushidhiggaru Falhu. The initiation of the Fushidhiggaru reclamation project was outlined as a key objective for the first 100 days of the administration, with MVR 400 million earmarked in the 2024 state budget for this purpose. However, the Parliament reallocated the funds for other projects before passing the amended state budget on Wednesday.
