The Jumhooree Party (JP) has extended the application deadline for those interested in contesting the upcoming parliamentary election on the party's ticket.
Initially set until 2:00 pm on the 26th of this month, the deadline has now been extended until January 25 at 2:00 pm.
According to JP, the deadline has now been extended until January 25 at 2:00 pm. The party said the extension was given as the current period coincides with the school holiday when many people travel within Maldives and abroad, which poses challenges to the timely submission of applications.
JP said party members who meet the eligibility criteria for contesting for the parliament can apply for JP ticket. The announcement further said that the forms and relevant documents submitted by the candidates will be evaluated by a committee determined by the JP council.
The JP has previously discussed with the MDP and PNC regarding potentially working together in the parliamentary elections.
