Final stretch of Ameenee Magu successfully tarred

The unfinished section of Male' City's Ameenee Magu has been tarred, completing the tarring of the entire 1.7 km stretch of the road.

Construction of the unfinished sections -- sections 12 and 13 -- of Ameenee Magu began on December 9. The tarring process of the unfinished section took place on Saturday night.

A Road Development Corporation (RDC) media official informed AVAS that the tarring process has been concluded, and that compaction work is currently in progress. He said all remaining works on the road would be completed within 24 hours.

The previous government awarded the contract to the RDC on July 3, 2022, for MVR 84 million to carry out Ameenee Magu reconstruction. While seven months were allocated for the work, the project faced delays and the the work could not completed within the timeframe.

In addition to tarring, the project includes the installation of a modern drainage system, street lights, and construction of bus stops, bumpers, and placing sign boards.
