Maldives tourism sees 10 percent surge

The number of tourists visiting the Maldives this year has increased by 10 percent compared to the same period last year.

According to the Tourism Ministry, by the 13th of this month, a total of 76,979 tourists had visited the Maldives, a rise of 7,444 visitors from the previous year's 69,535.

The current leasing source of tourists for the Maldives is Russia, with 10,203 arrivals. While Italy contributed 9019 and India 6,269 visitors, the UK trailed behind at 6,072. Other nations in the top ten markets include:

Germany: 4,737 tourists
China: 4,288 tourists
United States: 2,884 tourists
France: 2,368 tourists
Kazakhstan: 1,921 tourists
Romania: 1,573 tourists

A total of 1,147 tourism facilities are currently operating in the Maldives, including 176 resorts, 810 guesthouses, 146 safari vessels, and 15 hotels.
