Maldives tourist arrival numbers cross 700,000

More than 700,000 tourists have visited the Maldives so far this year, the Tourism Ministry has said.

A total of 728,950 tourists visited the country as of the 22nd of this month, according to the statistics released by the ministry. This figure represents a significant increase of 13 percent, equivalent to 84,229 more tourists compared to the same period last year when 644,721 tourists visited.

The current top three source markets contributing to this surge in tourism are China, the UK, and Russia, each sending over 70,000 tourists to the Maldives.

The Maldives currently receives an average of 6,451 tourists per day. There are currently 176 resorts, 844 guesthouses, 147 safari vessels, and 15 hotels in the Maldives.
