Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to the Maldives, Matrek Abdullah Al-Ajalin Aldosari has praised the Maldives's top table tennis player Fathimath Dheema Ali for becoming the first Maldivian athlete to qualify for the Olympics.
Dheema will compete in the Olympics in Paris in July this year.
The Ambassador met Dheema on Sunday and congratulated her on her achievement and encouraged her to continue on her path. During the meeting, the Ambassador assured that Saudi Arabia would provide opportunities for the Maldivian athletes to balance sports and education.
The meeting, held at the Saudi Embassy in the Maldives, was also attended by Dheema's mother, Aishath Waheedha, and Table Tennis Association (TTA) President, Ali Rasheed.
Saudi Arabia already provides assistance to promote TT in the Maldives. In this regard, Saudi Arabia supports TT development programs in Fuvahmulah and Addu City.
