President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has met with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
This is the second time President Dr. Muizzu has met PM Modi since taking office in November 2023. The first meeting occurred on the sidelines of the COP 28 summit in the UAE last year.
The latest meeting took place during an official banquet hosted by Indian President Droupadi Murmu in honor of visiting heads of state attending Modi's swearing-in ceremony for his third term as prime minister. Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer and Finance Minister Dr. Mohamed Shafeeq were also in attendance at the banquet.
The current visit to India is President Muizzu's first official trip to India since assuming office. The diplomatic relations between the Maldivian and Indian governments have been strained since Dr. Muizzu's inauguration.
