President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu described his recent official visit to India as highly successful.
The president traveled to New Delhi, India, for the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his third term. He concluded the visit and returned to the Maldives this morning.
In an interview with state media PSM upon his return, President Dr. Muizzu expressed optimism about the regional benefits of the visit.
“I am very pleased that they extended this invitation to me,” the President said.
During his visit to India, President Dr. Muizzu met with Indian President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and External Affairs Minister Dr. Jaishankar. The president thanked the Indian government for facilitating the high-level meetings with top Indian officials.
President Dr. Muizzu said he was confident that the Maldives would see positive developments in the coming days as a result of the strengthened relationship between the two countries. However, he did not share specific details.
This visit marked President Muizzu's first official trip to India since assuming office in November 2023.
