Foreigners residing in the Maldives illegally have been arrested while doing business in Hulhumale Phase I.
The arrests were made during a joint operation conducted on Friday by immigration officers and Maldives Police Service. Eight foreigners were apprehended in the operation while operating takeaway coffee businesses in the area.
Last month, a similar joint operation was conducted in Male’ to track down foreigners violating immigration laws, and a total of 50 foreigners were arrested and handed over to Immigration. Female immigration officers also conducted a special operation in May to apprehend illegal female foreigners.
