More than 938,000 tourists have visited the Maldives from the top 10 source markets thus far this year, according to statistics from the Tourism Ministry.
A total of 1.4 million tourists visited the Maldives as of September 21 this year, a 10 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Of this, 64.8 percent accounts for arrivals from the top ten source markets, with China leading with 211,900 visitors. Russia follows behind with 157,600 arrivals, and the UK with 123,600 arrivals. Meanwhile, 105,000 arrivals were recorded from Italy, 102,500 from Germany, 87,700 from India, and 49,100 from the US. Additionally, 40,500 arrivals were attributed to France, 32,800 to Spain and 26,800 to Switzerland.
On average, 5,471 tourists visit the Maldives daily.
There are currently 1,227 facilities operating in the Maldives, including 174 resorts, 887 guesthouses, 152 safaris and 14 hotels.
