RCC awarded contract for new Arabiyya building construction

Rasheed Carpentry and Construction Pvt Ltd (RCC) has been awarded the contract for the construction of the new Arabiyya School building.

The project was awarded to the company for MVR 152.9 million, to be completed within 18 months.

The state-of-the-art school will feature 40 classrooms, an underground parking zone, and a turf field. Built to modern standards, it will also include air-conditioning and solar panels.

Earlier in 2022, under President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s administration, the construction was initially awarded to Amin Construction for MVR 168.5 million. The school was originally planned to be built on the Old Jamaluddin School building.

However, the current administration shifted the location to the old Male’ landfill site and laid the foundation stone of the school was laid on February 24 this year. The current administration later canceled the contract with Amin after failed negotiations to adjust the project’s cost for scope changes.
