Gov't completes 38 projects in first year

The current administration has successfully completed 38 projects in its first year, the Construction Ministry announced on Tuesday.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's administration marked its one-year anniversary on Sunday. The statistics on the government's achievements were shared while critics have been stating that the Maldives has not seen any tangible development under the current administration.

The ministry reported that projects worth MVR 1.976 billion were completed in the government’s first year. The Construction Ministry today said that projects worth MVR 1.976 billion were carried out during the first year of this government. However, the government faced major setbacks in implementing the projects due to insufficient budget allocations set by the 19th Parliament.

The ministry said despite challenges in resuming projects halted by the previous MDP administration, tangible progress achieved by this government can be witnessed from island harbors, shores, and reclaimed areas.

Within a year of this government, the Maafaru Land Reclamation and Beach Protection Project; as well as harbor projects in Aa. Maalhis, Aa. Thoddoo, ADh. Fenfushi, and M. Muli have reached completion. In addition, excluding beach protection, land reclamation projects have been completed in 11 islands, and a road construction project in GDh. Thinadhoo.

In addition, the ministry revealed that 29 water and sewerage projects have been completed in the past year, with another 26 expected to be finished by December.

Updating the progress of the Maldives' second overwater bridge, the Thila-Male Bridge, the ministry confirmed that 46.6 percent of the project has reached completion.
