Maldives Police Service (MPS) has stated that the Indian investigative team assisting the Maldives in the probe of the December 12 fire that destroyed three government ministry buildings has collected the necessary information on-site.
The fire broke out at the Housing Ministry at around 6:30 am on December 12, and spread to the Construction Ministry building adjacent to it. The fire eventually spread to the Green Building where the Environment Ministry was housed. The blazed destroyed the three buildings, including all documents and equipment. Following the incident, the ministries have been relocated to Dharubaaruge.
The team of Indian experts arrived in the Maldives on December 20 to investigate the fire and left two days later on December 22. According to MPS, the team collected essential data and information to complete their investigation during this duration, including photos, videos and CCTV footage.
The police also shared additional information with the team. The Indian team will share their findings with MPS once the investigation is completed.
