AFC slams US$ 4000 fine on New Radiant, keeper

AFC has slammed a heavy fine of US$ 4000 on New Radiant Sports Club and the team's keeper for violating AFC Cup laws.

New Radiant was fined US$ 3000 for allowing individuals without clearance to the grounds on April 12, during the New Radiant and Hong Kong's Kitchee. AFC said this was in clear violation of clause 38.5 of AFC laws. The clause says only individuals with proper clearance will be allowed to enter the grounds, changing rooms and other areas.

Various sources have confirmed that those who had entered the areas without passes issued from the club were some participants of Maldivian Idol.

The team's keeper Abu Sulaiman was fined by US$ 1000 for a dangerous foul committed in the penalty area on a player from Kitchee. Maldives had lost to Kitchee 2-0. Additionally, he had been suspended for one match and warned not to commit additional offenses. Sulaiman was already on suspension, with substitute keeper Fairooz filling in for him.

New Radiant had already exited from the AFC Cup. With three points, three defeats and three equalizers, New Radiant came in last in the group. Maziya had also exited the Cup after last night's match.
