New Radiant players refuse to attend practice on overdue salary

Many players of New Radiant Sports Club has refused to attend practice on overdue salaries.

New Radiant is one of the most successful local teams and is fresh from a four streak as the best side locally. However, the salaries for some players had been over due for around two months or more.

"When talk about contracts, the management tells us not to worry, the contract will be given to us soon. But that day had not happened. When we complain about salaries, they say they have not received FAM funds. That's not something that we have to check. Many players will begin practice only when they receive their salaries," a player said to Avas on the condition of anonymity.

Some of the players in last year's winning team of the Dhivehi League, said that some players have been working without a contract.

New Radiant Manageer Ameen Faisal and General Secretary Ali Shameem were not available for comment.

FAM had withheld MVR 280000 provided to New Radiant as former New Radiant captain Assad Ali (Adubarey) had filed a complaint over unpaid salary. Adubarey, now transferred to Maziya, had requested FAM to settle the cheque of MVR 200,000, given by New Radiant.

Under the four year tenure of Ali Waheed (Ballack) the team had reached peak performance. However, with the change in management, the team had suffered. The current chair of the club is a senior member of Donad Investment, Yameen Adam.
