Silver gavel awarded to retired Judge

A retired Judge has been given the silver gavel award in recognition of the services rendered during his tenures.

The award was conferred on Senior Magistrate at Fuvahmulah Court, Al- Usthaz Ibrahim Shareef by Chief Justice Abdullah Saeed in the closing ceremony of the Judges Symposium today. Al- Usthaz Ibrahim Shareef had served the judiciary for 40 years and had retired from today.

Chief Justice praised the work carried out by the senior magistrate during this period.

JSC President Mujthaz Fahmy had also been conferred a similar title. The then Chief Justice Ahmed Faiz Hussain had conferred the title of Justice Retired.

The statistical year book was also released in the ceremony. Speaking after the release, Chief Justice said the statistics form this year onward will include details on human trafficking as well. He added that colloquium on human trafficking had changed the outlook on the issue and the measures that can be taken.

As part of the Judicial Year 2016, the judiciary had conducted many activities such as knowledge sharing initiatives, drawing up procedures to address major crimes such as human trafficking.
