The replica of "Kalhuohfunmi", built to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Independence, has been relocated to City Park.
The replica was placed in the City Park, located in Alikilegefaanu Magu, yesterday. Home Ministry has said the City Park will be developed as a LED Park. Some of the LED lit trees in the Sultan Park had been shifted to the City Park.
Home Ministry had previously said the "Kalhuohfunmi", built with a half million rufiyaa budget, and the LED garden will be opened next month. The decision to locate "Kalhuohfunmi" to City Park was passed after it was apparent the Hulhumale' Heritage Island is still not complete. Home Ministry said they did not wish to keep the vessel in storage for an extended period.
The vessel was created from the wood of 120 palm trees and measures 54 feet. The vessel is rigged with three sails and commemorates the journey carried out by the Utheemu brothers.
