Egypt Air flight 804 has crashed into the ocean according to an anonymous airline official that AP has quoted. The plane that set off to Cairo from Paris reportedly crashed into the mediterranean, which is the point in which the flight vanished from the radar.
Egypt Air official who wished to stay anonymous confirmed to AP that the flight had in fact crashed into the Mediterranean sea. However, no official statement has been released by any of the concerning authorities. The anonymous official, quoted by AP revealed that the authorities had confirmed that the plane had crashed, and the ongoing search was now looking for parts and debris of the plane.
“The theory that the plane crashed and fell is now confirmed after the preliminary search and after it did not arrive at any of the nearby airports,” said a senior aviation source, who declined to be identified.
The official statement released by the aviation ministry says that they had not confirmed if the plane had crashed or not, and that it was difficult to guarantee the status of the missing flight.
The anonymous airline official said that it was difficult to determine the cause of the crash. Adding to his statement, the official said that the plane could have crashed for a number of reasons including terrorism or major technical faults. The definite cause for the crash could only be determined by examining parts of the plane, and by conducting a detailed investigation into the contents that the black box holds.
