Saudi Arabia's bin Laden Group has been assigned the project to develop the new state of the art terminal at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA). The agreement was signed this evening.
MACL Managing Director Adil Moosa and bin Laden Group's Representative Abdul Aziz bin Laden signed the agreement on behalf of their respective companies. The company has carried out major construction projects across the globe and in Saudi Arabia. The Group is managing the construction of the development of the Holy Kaabaa in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
Speaking after signing the agreement, MD Adil said the development project will not hamper the services given in the airport. The terminal is to be developed in the newly reclaimed 7000 square meter land. Adil said President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayyoom had taken the initiative to develop the airport and that this was a prudent step for the future and development of the nation.

"All the board members, airport employees view this as a difficult endeavor, we are united to make this, the vision the President sees, a success," Adil said.
Bin Laden Group's Representative Abdul Aziz bin Laden said the company had previously completed successful projects. He added that it was an honor and a privilege for the company to work in the country. He said the company will seek to finish the project, in accordance with the wishes of the public and that it was a key goal for the company.
"We know how important this project is to the country. We want to finish the project to the standards Maldivians want," Adil said.
President Abdullah Yameen had laid the foundation stone of the terminal after signing the agreement.
Singapore's Surbana International, the consultant of Singapore's Changi Airport, is the firm providing consultancy for INIA expansion.
