A teacher from L.Kunahandhoo has been arrested last night. He was reportedly arrested for having connections with a terrorist group. The police had arrested Leading Teacher Abdullah Mauroof.
The president of Kunahandhoo Council Asmaau Abubakr said that a letter of dismissal was sent to him yesterday. Abdullah Mauroof was arrested hours after he was dismissed from his position at the school. Asmaau Abubakr has said that the council has not been able to verify the reason for Mauroof's arrest.
Police officials have said that a 36 year old man had been arrested last night. Police officials revealed that the man was arrested by obtaining a court warrant, and that he had been arrested in relation to a case that the police are investigating. Police officials declined to make further comments regarding the arrest.
School students are reportedly protesting the arrest of their former leading teacher Abdullah Mauroof.
