Police issues summons for ex-VP Jameel, RaajjeTV Chair

Police have issued summons for former Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed and RaajjeTV Chairman Akram Kamaluddin. Police Information Officer Ismail Ali had confirmed that such a summon had been issued for the two individuals.

Both individuals are now in self-imposed exile in UK and Dr. Jameel is the head of the opposition coalition, Maldives United Opposition. Ismail did not specify a date for the summons but said that the Police had not been able to hand over the summons to the two individuals. He said Akram's family had refused to accept the summons, while Dr. Jameel's residence was closed off.

Ismail said both were wanted for interrogation on multiple cases the Police was investigating, including the investigation into the trumped up arrest warrant for President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Qayyoom.

Ismail added that he hoped that both Akram and Dr. Jameel would lend all assistance and cooperate with the Police for the investigation.
