Ceylon Hotels Corporation (CHC) is set to enter the Maldivian tourism market with investments into two new properties.
Speaking to Sri Lanka's Daily News, CHC and Galle Face Hotels Chairman Sanjeev Gardiner said they have already started construction and the property will be opened by end 2017. The group is set to invest in developing a 50 room property in V. Ambaraa which is set to open in 2017. Once opened, the resort will be expanded by an additional 50 rooms in the second phase.
CHC will invest over US$ 34 million in developing the property.
The Group had also leased an additional island far from capital Male' and the island will be developed to a 40 room property.
Gardiner said the Maldives was a prime destination for tourism and will help the group expand on their profits.
The Company will be rebranded end of this year. As part of their restructuring initiative, the company had partnered with other groups to run their properties.
