No Maldivians injured in Saudi terror attack

Foreign Ministry has stated via Twitter that no Maldivians were injured in the recent attack on Al-Masjid an-Nabawi by a suicide bomber. A lot of Maldivians travel to Saudi Arabia during Ramadan in order to perform Umrah.

Hajj Corporation that is in charge of handling the most number of Maldivian pilgrims, along with all other smaller corporations, have also said confirmed no Maldivians were present at the site/s of bombing and that all Maldivians were in Mecca when the attack took place.

While the attack killed a total of four people and injured five others, there were bombings that targeted two other Saudi cities - one of the targets being a Shia mosque and the other near the US consulate in the city of Jeddah.

The responsibility of the attack is yet to be claimed, but most suspicions lie on the jihadist militant group, IS.
