Being penalized on voting is disheartening: Faris

Member of Parliament for Dhiggaru Constituency Faris Maumoon has stated that being penalized from the Party for voting in favor national and public interest was disheartening.

A statement released by the MP said that PPM was initially formed to uphold and protect rights of the citizens and usher in development and progress. In the statement Faris said that it was truly disheartening that the Party will implement action against him for voting in favor of public interest. Faris added that it was imperative that all members of the Party were aware of the reasons behind the current issue.

Faris said that he hoped the Party President and his father Maumoon Abdul Qayyoom's reform agenda will shed light to the core issues within the Party and will help in eliminating the issues. He also said he hoped the public will see PPM as a Party that prioritizes on national interest. Stating that he will always support national and public interest, Faris said that he will support all work within the Party carried out free from influence and in accordance to Party laws.

The statement was released prior to his appearance in the Party's Ethics Committee to reveal his reasons over his decision to vote against the three line whip issued by the Party over the controversial amendment which allows the lease of islands without a bidding process.
