Nihan's employment will be decided after appeal process: JSC

Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has stated the employment status of GA. Maamigilee Court Senior Magistrate, Ahmed Nihan, will be settled after all the appeal processes have been completed.

At the time of sentencing Nihan was suspended from his position.

Speaking to Avas, JSC Media Coordinator Hassan Zaheen said there still was a possibility the verdict on Nihan could change in the appeal process and as such, the issue of his employment will be settled after the appeal process.

The state had filed four charges against Nihan on the mocked up court order issued for the arrest of President Yameen. Nihan was charged with procuring a fake document, abuse of power, committing an act befitting position and participating and carrying out an act of terror.

He was sentenced to 17 years jail term under clause number six subsection (c) of the new terror laws. The same verdict was passed on former Prosecutor General Muhthaz Muhsin on the same charges.
