Addu-Fuvahmulah transport services to begin on Friday

Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has revealed that the official inauguration for Addu-Fuvahmulah transport services is to be held this Friday, 15th July, in S. Feydhoo.

MPL stated that Vice President Abdullah Jihad will be the chief guest of the ceremony and will be joined by other government officials and Parliament Members.

A total of 13 buses will be used in both the atolls: eight buses that can carry up to 52 persons and five buses that can carry 32 persons at a time. The buses are air-conditioned and designed to hold the luggage of traveling passengers.

Sea transport consists of four launches and two ferries: three launches that can carry 24 persons, one launch that can carry 10 people and the ferries can carry up to 100 people at a time.

MPL also stated that President Abdullah Yameen Adul Gayyoom recognized and prioritized the importance of establishing a well-functioning transport system in the two southernmost atolls in the Maldives.
