PPM Deputy Secretary General Abdul Aleem said two members of the Party had submitted the cases for review yesterday and the allegations against the two MPs were the same.

The allegations against the two said the MPs had violated clause two of the ethics code, as well as filing suit against Party President and acting in a manner that disrupts Party administration.

The cases were submitted to the Committee at a time when suit by the two MPs were filed against PPM President Maumoon Abdul Qayyoom in Civil Court after Maumoon had suspended Party activities.

Ethics Committee regulations state the Committee must be informed of any cases within 24 hours of filing the case. Aleem said the case had now been formally filed to the Committee.

PPM has been split from within over core issues, with many members filing ethics violation cases against other members. In addition to the cases against MPs, a case had been filed against President Maumoon as well.
